The Department of Public Administration introduced in the year 1958 in Osmania University. It witnessed further expansion in 1961 when Master Programme was offered on a regular basis. The basic aim of introducing the M.A course was to enable students to take up careers in Government service and Public affairs. The research activity got a fillip with the introduction of Doctoral Programme in 1964 and M.Phil in 1970. Department of Public Administration was established in the year 1960 at Nizam College. Since than the Department is handling BA (Telugu and English Medium), Post Graduate (MA) started in 1997. More number of Foreign students i.e. ( Afghanistan, Nigeria, South Africa, Maldives etc.,) attracted towards department of Public Administration as per the importance in their countries. With the introduction of Public Administration as one of the subjects both in civil services examination of the UPSC and APPSC, the Department has gained immense popularity among the student community. The Department of Public Administration has an excellent faculty with exposure to public administration at the national and international levels. The basic objective of the faculty is to constantly re-invent itself in tune with the changing as well as future needs of economy and society so as to impart skills, knowledge and leadership among the students. The other objectives is to promote research efforts of academic staff to better understanding of the nature, problems and potential of modern society in the realm of governance and administration.
She joined into the service on 30th September 1997 as Assistant Professor. She was the incharge Head of the Department of Public Administration from 2008-2010, Member Board of Studies in the Department in Osmania University. Member, Departmental Committee, Chairperson Board of Studies, Department of Public Administration, Nizam College from 2008-2010. She has been awarded Ph.D in Feburary’2010 titled “Protection of Women: Role of Women Protection Cell and Women Police Stations in Andhra Pradesh” She wrote lessons for Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University for P.G.Course. she served as Ladies Hostel Warden (O.U) from 2008-2009. She attended 10 National Seminars and other workshops in the department. She participated in counseling on Women problems in NGOs, Women Police Stations and Women Protection Cell.
Dr.S.Balabrahma Chary , M.A., M.Phil, Ph.D form Osmania University. Head of the Department, Nizam College. He joined the university service in June’2007. He is Warden and Vice Principal of Nizam College Hostel. He is Member Board of Studies in the Department in Osmania University. Member, Departmental Committee, Chairperson Board of Studies, Department of Public Administration, Nizam College from 2010-2012He is the Committee member in Anti Ragging and Mentoring cell of Nizam College. For the last 15 years he has been handling UG and PG classes in the constituent Colleges of Osmania University. His areas of interest are ‘Indian Administration’ and ‘Management of Resources’. He presented 6 papers at National seminars and published 12 articles in Journals (Orient Journal of Law and social Sciences and Yojana). He is awarded with Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree in 1999 and LLB in 2002 from Osmania University. He got Post Doctoral Research Fellow Ship (2002 -2004) sponsored by Ministry of Tribal Affairs Govt. of India. He is working as a Faculty /Asst. Professor © in the Dept. of Public Administration since 1996. He taught the students of both Under Graduate & Post Graduate in the Osmania University and also as an Academic Counselor for Under Graduate & Post Graduate students of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University from 1997 to till date. He is also Programme Officer for NSS Unit-II from 2009 to till date. He worked as a Project Associate/Research Associate in various reputed organizations. He participated 11 National Seminars/Workshops and also published several articles in various reputed Journals. He served as a Resource Person for ‘Personality Development and Motivation Programme’ for Jail Warders at “State Institute of Correctional Administration (SICA)”, Dept. of Jails, Government of A.P., Hyderabad (2002-03). He joined during 2004 at Nizam College. He is Post Doctoral Fellow awarded by UGC (University Grants Commission ) in 2009 under the supervisionship of Prof.Y.Pardhasaradhi, Head, Department of Public Administration, Osmania University on “Urban Infrastructure and the Problem of Shelter in Slums: A Comparative Study of Hyderabad & Banglore”. He has taking contact-cum-counseling classes at Prof.G.Ram Reddy Center for Distance Education, OU from 2005. From 2002 onwards weekend classes (Sunday’s only) taken as Academic Counselor at Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University. School of Distance & Learning Continuing Education, Kakatiya University 2010. His areas are Urban & Rural Governance, Indian Administration. He attended number of seminars, conferences and workshops.
She is working as Asst. Professor (C) joined Nizam College during 2007. She has been awarded M.Phil in Feburary’2010 and qualified the UGC (University Grants Commission) NET exam of December’2010. She is doing her Ph.D on “Capacity Building of Probationary IPS Officers : A study of Sardarvallabhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad” under the supervision of Prof.M.Ramakrishnaiah, Dept. of Public Administration, University Arts College, OU. She is also taking contact classes for BA Graduates IInd year(English Medium) Indian Administration (Paper II )at Prof.G.Ram Reddy Center for Distance Education, OU from 2008 onwards. She is taking weekend classes (Sunday’s only) as Academic Counselor at Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University from 2011 onwards. She attended various seminars and conferences in the department and other departments of OU.
She joined Nizam College in August’2009. She has been awarded M.Phil in 1985 from O.U. on “the Population Control Programmes – A study in Administration in A.P”. She has 25 years of teaching experience from 1983 to 2008 in Stanely Degree & PG college for women, (Affiliated to OU) Abids, Hyd. She has completed Executive MBA from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur. Her areas of Specializations are “Indian Administration, Management Science & Techniques and Office Management”. She attended various Seminars and Conferences during her service.
He joined as Part Time Lecturer at Nizam College in 2010. He obtained M.A from Kakatiya University and done his Ph.D from Osmania University. His Ph.D research was on “ Decentralized Planning & Development Functions. A Case study of Nalagonda District in Andhra Pradesh” awarded on June’2010. He had published 3 articles in monthly journal.
