Nizam College, the premier institution of Hyderabad, was established in 1887 A.D. which was affiliated to the Madras University. Later it became a constituent college of O.U. The 'History' in the college, was started right at the inception of the college. The Under-Graduate Course in History was as old as the College itself. The eminent persons such of Gulam Yazdani of Deccan History fame, Haroon Khan Sherwani of Qutub Shahi's fame, Maremanda Rama Rao of kakatiya fame, Prof. Srinivasa Chary, Prof. Ramayanam Narsimha Rao, Prof. P. Sreerama Sarma, Prof. Sarojini Ragani and Prof. Y. Vaikuntam etc., have adorned this Department. The P.G. Course has been introduced in 1984; and ever since, both U.G. and P.G. Courses in History are run in this College. The medium of instruction for U.G. Course is both Telugu and English. The remedial classes for U.G. students are started from the year 2009 onwards.
Dr. G. Anjaiah joined service on June 8, 2007. He did his M.A. from Nizam College (O.U.), M.Phil and Ph.D., from Osmania University. Before this he was working as Academic Consultant at University College for Women, Hyderabad. He worked on The Ministers and Generals of Tuluva Dynasty of Vijayanagara Empire for his M.Phil and The Usurpation Phenomenon in Vijayanagara Empire for his Ph.D. He is interested in 'Socio-Economic History of Medieval Andhradesa', mainly in the history of handicrafts and itinerary trading communities. He has written course materials for both graduate and postgraduate courses offered by Dr. B.R Ambedkar Open University and Prof. G. Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education. Some of his writings are 'Rural Industry: Crafts, Agriculture oriented, manufacture of Gold ornaments, Stones, Diamonds cutting Industry' in 'Comprehensive History of Andhra Pradesh', Vol. IV, (forthcoming). He was appointed as the Member of Academic Council of Andhra Mahila Sabha, Arts and Science College for Women (Autonomous) for a period of Two years i.e., 2011-2013. He was also appointed as one of the authors for Intermediate First Year History book and B.A. Second Year History Book by Telugu Academy. He also published three articles and presented two papers in National Seminars during the period 2009-2011.
She has joined the Osmania University on June 8, 2007 as an Assistant Professor of History with over 15 years of experience in teaching and research. Prior to this, she worked as a lecturer in a Government Junior College. She also taught at St. Francis College for Women and St. Ann's College for Girls in Hyderabad. She did her M.A., M.Phil, and Ph.D., in History in the University of Hyderabad. She was awarded doctorate for her thesis on Representation of Women in the Miniature Paintings in the Deccan School. She secured 90 percent in external evaluation of her M.Phil Dissertation. Her research specialization is in socio-economic history, medieval history, history of Deccan, women's history and art history.
She has published a book, History, Art and Women (Medieval Deccan- 15th-17th Century A.D.), Bhartiya Kala Prakshan, Delhi, 2008. She has been teaching a diverse range of courses at the Post-Graduate Level in O.U. which include Ancient Civilizations, Social History of Medieval India (1200-1700), History of Science and Technology (In Modern India 1800-1947), National Movement in India (1858-1947), Women studies in Modern India, History of India, tribal and Peasant Movements in India and History of Hyderabad State.
She has been using a participatory and innovative teaching and learning methodology such as use of the multimedia, manuscripts, cartography for research work, referring national and international journals, collaboration with Archives, Museums and Libraries. The students are being encouraged to undertake field works keeping track of latest trends and writings on history.

She is actively involved in field-based activities such as Conducting a Bridge Course for B.A. Final Year students to prepare them for competitive examinations and entrance tests of various universities during 2008-10, acting as a a Resource Person in the Refresher Course in History for lecturers from graduate and post-graduate colleges organized by the UGC Academic Staff College, MANUU (Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad), delivering lectures for Ph.D Scholars on Socio-Economic History of Andhra for the academic year 2011-12, writing a Chapter on Art and Architecture in the Fifth Volume of the Comprehensive History and Culture of Andhra Pradesh 1724-1857 being Andhra Pradesh History Congress. She has also been engaged in involved in organising various Academic, Administrative and Cultural Programmes at College and University level.
Her contribution to corporate life and management of the institution/ administrative experience/assignments held are served as Head, Department of History, Nizam College, Osmania University from June 2010 to December 2010, currently serving as Director, Campus Hostel for Women (CHW), Osmania University, Hyderabad. She is the first Director of the Campus Hostels for Women, O.U. after its inception. She also served as Additional Chief Warden, Campus Hostel for Women (CHW), Osmania University, Hyderabad (Since November, 2008), Mess Warden for Campus Hostel for Women I, CHW II, CHW III, Osmania University, Hyderabad (Since September, 2008) and General Warden, CHW- I from July 2007 2008.
Her professional development activities include Course Coordinator in History at PGRRCDE (Professor G Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education), O.U and Undertaken field work to Chhatrapati Shivaji Mahraj Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly the Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai in May 2009 for research purpose.
Dr. G. Arun Kumar joined service on October 3, 1988 and has been working in the Department of History since September 2006. He did his M.A., M.Phil, Ph.D., and LLB from Osmania University. He worked on Telangana Armed Struggle for his M.Phil. He worked on Social Background of Telangana Peasant's Armed Struggle 1946-1951 for his Ph.D. His areas of research are 'Agriculture', 'Peasant Politics' and 'Peasant Movements'. He attended Two International Seminars and many National Conferences and has published number of articles in the proceeding of Indian History Congress, South Indian History Congress and A.P. History Congress. He is also associated with Peasant and Working class Movements in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Dr. Bhangya Bhukya joined service on October 13, 1997. He did his M.A and M.Phil in History from University of Hyderabad. After teaching in the Department for five years, he moved to United Kingdom on the Ford Foundation International Fellowship to do his Ph.D 2003-06. He received British Academy Award, visiting fellowship 2009-10, SOAS, University of London, UK and he also received PDF from British Academy and he was visiting fellow from January 2010 to April 2010. He worked with David Hardiman (one of the founder members of the Subaltern Studies Project) on Power, Subaltern and Identity: The Making of the Lambada Community of Hyderabad State for his Doctoral in the Department of History, University of Warwick. He is presently interested in Community Histories, the effects of Power/Knowledge, Govern mentality and Dominance on Subaltern Communities, particularly advises; the state and nationalism, and Identity Movements by forest and hill People in the nineteenth and twentieth century India. He has published most influential books on the history of Lambada Community. He has attended and presented papers in international conferences in United Kingdom and United States. He delivered lectures at School of Oriental and African Studies, London, University of Oxford and University of Edinburgh. Besides his rigorous academic scholarship, he is also associated with Adivasi (Aboriginal) and Dalit Liberation movements in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In this connection, he has written a number of news paper articles in Deccan Chronicle (English), Vaartha and Andhra Jyothy (Telugu). Some of his publications are 'The Subjugated Nomads: The Lambadas under the rule of the Nizams', Orient Longman, Hyderabad (forthcoming), Co-author: 'The Lambadas: A community Besieged', United Nation International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Hyderabad, 2002.
