DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE (B.Sc)

The Department of Computer Science was established in 1989. The UG Computer Science course i.e. B.Sc. Computer Science (course is completed in 6 semesters)which consists of C, C++, Data Structures using C++, Operating Systems, java, SAD & HTML, DBMS, RDBMS & VB as one of the subject in each semester. The computer laboratories have about 50 nodes (Pentium 1.7 - 2.8 GHz) and Pentium 4/DualCore) and one server i.e. Intel Xeon. The laboratories are air-conditioned and power supply is through 15 UPS (7.5 KAV). Upgrading the computers is taken up regularly to higher speeds and greater storage space. The department is also equipped with HP Laserjet 1020, HP Photosmart C5288 all in one(i.e. printer, scanner & copier). Our College was the first Constituent College in Osmania University to set up INTERNET facility of 4mbps now available with 180 systems in all departments. Most of the students selected during campus recruitments in the college are from the computer science stream. Our department has good faculty members with not less than minimum of 3+ years of experience in teaching. They are very proficient in explaining with different technologies such as Advanced Operating Systems, Database Management systems, java technologies etc., The Department faculty are also pursuing their further studies (M.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering from JNTU Kukatpally as part-time course) and their PhD and are engaged in Research under Supervision of well experienced and eminent professors in the field. The department has about 338 students in the courses. The students are from different countries are coming over here to pursue their studies with different combinations as Computer Science as one of the subject in the UG level. Usually the students are from various countries like (Yemen, Sudan, China and other African countries). The success rate of students in getting offers from companies is about 80%. The department has E-classroom technique by which topics are discussed in the form of e-lessons. With advent of technology we are using projectors and edutainment software to make the students to understand the topics clearly with examples. The performance of students is periodically checked by conducting the exams, interactions, attendance are also being checked regularly. Periodically up gradations of the systems and providing facility of internet to the students to understand the concepts of topics in broad manner is taken up. The department has participated in " Innovation Classroom Strategies " conducted by the college. The department for next coming years plans to provide good resources with high speed internet and execution of projects to meet industry standards. Apart from B.Sc.(Computer Science) course students , the department will also conduct the classes for the students of P.G. Diploma in Health Care courses and M.Sc.(Five Years Integrated Course in Chemistry).
