Department of Zoology
The Department of Zoology is one of the oldest departments in the College having 7 regular staff, 9 Academic Consultants and 1 Part-time Lecturer to cater to the needs of B.Sc. and M.Sc. teaching. This is also a centre for research, guiding Ph.D. students. In B.Sc. III year there are 45 students; Clinical Science is being offered as an elective in V and VI Semesters. The M.Sc. strength is 48 with 2 batches. The special papers offered for Group-I, include Animal Physiology, Sericulture and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). For Group-II, Agricultural Entomology, Entomophilic Nematodes (EPN), Medical Entomology and Phytonematology are being offered. For Ph.D. students, the Department is equipped and specialized in the areas of Entomology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Immunology and Entomophilic Nematodes. So far more than 35 scholars have taken PhD degree and published more than 250 research papers in national and international journals. Many research projects funded by DST and UGC have been carried out. Presently one minor project is also being carried out by Dr.VanithaDas. |
