The Department of Telugu is offering Telugu at UG level as second language and Modern Language. The Department arranges guest lectures specifically for second language and Modern Language. The Department also makes study material for the blind students. The Department has been served earlier by Dr. Chintal Yadaiah, Dr. Veldanda Nityananda Rao as Head of the Department. |

Prof. P.Sumathi Narendra has 29 years of teaching experience and 24 years of research experience. Under her guidance 10 scholars were awarded M.Phil and 12 scholars were awarded Ph.D. She attended 50 national seminars and 2 international seminars. She organized 4 national seminars. |

Dr.M.Bagaiah joined Osmania University in 1999; he is the Head of the department of Telugu, Nizam College. His M.Phil (1988) thesis is ‘Simhachala Kshetra Mahatyamu-oka pariseelana’ and his Ph.D thesis is ‘KuchimanchiTimmakavi-jeevitamu rachanalu. |
His Post Doctoral research was on Preparation of Comprehensive Commentary on Accha Telugu Ramayana’ (2003). He was awarded D.Lit from Berampur University(2003) for his work -Studies in Ekoji Ramayana- Its Multifarious Aspects.
He has edited about a dozen of palm leaves manuscripts, microfilms and printed them. Three of his articles have been published in international journals and 10 of his articles have been published in other national journals. He was the principal investigator in a UGC sponsored Major research project, entitled ‘Preparation of Comprehensive Commentary on Accha Telugu Ramayana’. He presented 13 papers in various seminars and 16 paper presentations in UGC sponsored National seminars. He was the Director of UGC seminar conducted on 30-3-2000 at P.G college of Science, Saifabad, O.U-The papers presented in this seminar were printed and brought out in the form of a book.Under his supervision 5 scholars were awarded M.Phil and 7 scholars have been awarded PH.D.His research books published are:

He gave many Radio and Television programmes. He has held many positions in various Social Organisations and is examiner at state and central level. He was the Director of AP Govt. Oriental Research Institute, Hyd, 2004-05. He was member Board of Studies at UG and PG level-Member, faculty of Oriental Languages- Member, Departmental committee- Member, Syllabus Committee at U G and PG level and Hostel Warden C Hostel, O.U. from 1991-93.He was Research Scholar in A.P Govt Oriental Manuscripts library and Research Institute1984-1990.
He is Language Advisor of Vasudha an annual magazine brought out by O.U.College for Women,Koti. Dr. M.Bagaiah is also actively involved in community service. He was University Cultural Forum Secretary (2000) and essayed a role in the drama ‘Sri Ramanjaneya Yuddam’ (1967).He attended 3 Orientation courses and one Refresher Course. |

Dr. S. Kamalakara Sharma joined service on 8th June 2007. He got his MA (Telugu) in 1994, MA (Sanskrit), 2000, MA (Jyotishya) 2001 and MA (English ), 2004. |
He was awarded Ph.D in 2004. His areas of specialisation are Telugu Literature and Astrological Studies. His areas of interest are Classical Literature and Astrology. He has published around 82 articles in various magazines; other publications include Jyothirmayam Vangmayam, Janapadula Jyothirvignanam, Jyotisha Kamalakaram Andarikee Jyotisham. He is the editor of different magazines like Musi, Jyotirvastu Vignanam, Udayini.
He has several awards and honours to his credit including UGC-NET, UGC-JRF. Some other awards are Ramaraju Janapada Vignana Puraskar, Rashtriya Vikas Siromani Puraskar; honoured with Andhra Bhasha Bhushana, Jyotishya Praveena, Jyotishya Visharada, Daivanga Ratna, Jyotishya Siromani, Jyotishya Martanda, Ateendriya Sakti Sampannulu title. He has written several poems and around 8 books are ready for publication. He is a media-friendly academician with several radio talks and media appearances to his credit. |
