Department of Political Science
The Department of Political Science in Nizam College is one of the oldest Departments in the College. It was set up in 1946. Eminent political scientists like Prof. G .Ram Reddy, Prof. N.G .Rajurkar have worked in this college. Currently the Department has 7 Teachers- 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor and 2 Academic Consultants. All the teachers are well experienced in teaching and in research at different levels. The Department is offering UG and PG programmes. The Department has a very good Seminar library with standard books and computers facilities. |

Prof .Naidu Ashok joined the University in the year 1988 as Assistant professor. He became Associate Professor in 1997 and Professor in 2005. |
He is the Member, Executive Council Osmania University and Member, Governing Body, AP Residential Educational Society, a state government organization. He got his M.Phil degree from Osmania University in 1988 for his thesis –Politics and Patterns of Leadership in Andhra Pradesh: A Study of Armoor Taluka. He got his Ph.D from O.U in 1993 for his thesis- Public Policy and Rural Development: A Study of Jawahar Rozgar Yojana in Mahabubnagar Distrct of Andhra Pradesh. He has 20 years of teaching experience. He was recognized as Ph.D supervisor in 2002. Hs areas of interest are: Indian Political Thought, Indian Political Process and Andhra Pradesh Government and Politics.
Prof .Naidu Ashok received the following awards:
- Commendation Certificate from Collector & District Magistrate, Mahabubnagar on 26-1-2000 for meritorious performance and service as Principal during 1999 .
- Commendation Certificate from Collector & District Magistrate, Mahabubnagar on 15-8-2000 for meritorious performance and service as Principal during 1999-2000.
- Commendation Certificate from Collector & District Magistrate, Mahabubnagar on 26-1-2008 for meritorious performance and service as Principal during 2007-2008.
- Thee Appreciation letters from D.C.Reddy, the then Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University for Best performance as Principal.
- Best Teacher award from Lions club of Achampet, Mahabubnagar district, for the year 2000and 2001.
Prof .Naidu Ashok Participated and presented research papers in 36 seminars at national and state level. He was a resource person at various workshops, seminars, training programmes and conferences. He has coordinated and conducted various seminars and workshops.
He was the seminar Director of State level seminar on AP Vision 2020 on 31 March, 2000 at OU PG College, Mahabubnagar .He was the seminar Director of Regional workshop on Dimensions of Human Development in A.P on 29 July, 2005 at OU PG College, Mahabubnagar under CESS, Hyderabad. He has attended around 8 Orientation and Refresher Courses organized by different Universities.
Prof .Naidu Ashok held the following posts:
- Warden, OU PG College Mahabubnagar from December 1988- Septembe-1988.
- Principal, OU PG College Mahabubnagar from 14-9-98 to 12-8-2009.
- Principal, Nizam College, O.U, Hyderabad from 13-8-2009 to till date.
He is the life member of:
- All India political Association
- National Human Resource Development Network, Hyderabad
He is a member of different academic committees.

| He got his M.A degree from Osmania University in 1977 and MPhil from JNTU, in 1979 and awarded PhD from Osmania University in 2002. He has published 27 Articles and 1 Book .He has attended 13 Seminars and completed 5 projects. Presently appointed as Advisor to the Supreme Court, andCommissioner of ‘The Right to Food’ to monitor the implementation of the Food Security Schemes in Andhra Pradesh .Consulted by AP Social Watch in the preparation of ‘Rethinking Priorities: Making Policies as People Matter,’ 2005.He Assisted ‘Centre for Dalit Studies’ to prepare the report on Land Reform Laws in Andhra Pradesh. He served as Member, Board of Studies for Dr.BR Ambedkar Open University, Member& Advisory Committee for PG Diploma in Human Rights, Centre for Distance Education, University of Hyderabad and Member, Advisory Committee, ASIHSS, Department of Political science. |

The Legislative Process in India: Role of the Speaker in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly (1956-1987). He joined the Department of Political Science on 20th Sep 1990 and was involved in the following Election study projects: -Lok Sabha Elections, 1980, Assembly Elections, 1983,Lok Sabha Elections, 1984, Assembly Elections ,1985. Hisareas of research includeLegislative Process, Electoral Process in India & Policy Studies.
At present, five PhD. Scholars are working under his supervision. He has published 25 research papers and 6 have been accepted for publication. Presently, working to publish his PhD. He is applying for a Major Research Project (UGC).He is a Life member of IACIS Hyderabad, IPSA and IIPA, New Delhi and Prakasam Institute of Development Studies, Hyderabad. He was awarded J.R.F by U.G.C. |

Professor P.Muthaiah joined service in 1983, he became Professor in 2004. His area of interest and research are: Political Theory, Feminist Political theory and Social Movements. |
| He published 20 research papers and 2 books. He attended 50 national seminars. He delivered guest lectures in various Universities. He contributed to Public Policy by formulating Sub-categorization policy which became a model for rationalization of Reservation Policy for scheduled caste in India. He believes in action research and is working as an activist to concretize the deprived groups in the significance of human rights. |

Dr. Jadi Musalaiah got his M.A degree from Osmania University in the year 1988, and completed M.Phil from the Osmania University in the year 1991. |
He received Ph.D in 2004 from Osmania University for his thesis, Tribal Development Policy: Implementation and Impact - A Study of Bhadrachalam ITDA in Andhra Pradesh. His areas of Specialisation are Public Policy, Tribal Studies and e-Governance. His research projects include major projects like ‘Impact of e-Governance Programmes on Indian Society: A Comparative Study of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala’, Project Sponsored by DST, Govt. of India (Co-investigator).
Some of the minor projects- ‘Tribal Development Policy in Andhra Pradesh: A Study of Khammam District’, (UGC-SRC). Some of his publications are ‘Electronic Governance: Concepts, Trends and Implications for India’, published in Public Administration in the 21st Century, (ed) by Noorjahan Bava, Golden Jubilee Volume of IIPA, Kanishka Publishers, New Delhi, 2004, ‘Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as Social Reformist’, published in Great Indian Economists, (Co-Author), (Ed) by Debendra Kumar Das, Deep & Deep Publications, New Delhi, Vol. 3, 2004. He served as BOS, member in the admission team, I/c Director, Prof. G. Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education, OU, for two months in 1992. He worked as Asst.
