Department of Commerce
The Department of Commerce in Nizam College was established in the sixties and has been offering undergraduate course in Commerce i.e. B Com (general). In the eighties post graduate course was added to the Department. With the granting of Autonomy to the College, the Department started Vocational course in Foreign Trade, B.Com (Foreign Trade Practices and Procedure). B.Com (e-Commerce) course was started in 2000-01. However, B.Com (Foreign Trade) course has been discontinued since 2005. In september 2006 the Department started a Certificate Course called E. Commerce and Web Developer. This is an Add-on course and University Grants Commission, New Delhi is providing the seed money.
There are about four hundred students in the Commerce Department studying in First, Second and Third year of B.Com (regular and e- Commerce) and M Com (previous and final). Of them nearly sixty students are from foreign countries like Somalia, Ethiopia, Jibouti, Uganda, Kenya, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Iran and Afghanistan. There are around sixty girl students and many of them are foreigners. There is continuous effort to upgrade the syllabus of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Fundamentals of Information Technology and Data Based MS were introduced in B.Com II and III yr in 2002. Mathematics along with Statistics was introduced in 2001. At the postgraduate level, this is the only College in Andhra Pradesh, which offers International Business as specialisation in the third and fourth semesters. MBA programme has been introduced from the academic year 2007 - 2008.
The Department has a computer lab comprising forty systems and four printers. The Department also has a LCD and an Overhead Projector. Books, both for the UG and PG are available at the College library. Every year, more than a hundred books are added to the library. The Department is proud to announce the launching of a Journal called Osmania University Journal of International Business whose inaugural issue was released in the National Conference on Insurance Reforms - "Opportunities and Challenges", held on 18th and 19th of August 2006 in the Centenary Hall, Nizam College. The faculty members have organised a number of National Seminars in the past. |

Dr. V Anand Kumar joined service in 1988. He did his Ph.D. from Kakatiya University on “Organisation and Management of R R Bs in AP.” |
| He is a member of the Board of Studies and Joint Inspection Committees. He is also member of governing bodies and selection committees of various affiliated colleges. He is a life member of All India Commerce Association and Indian Institute of Public Administration. He is on the editorial board of the Department’s bi-annual journal Internal Journal of Business Studies. His area of interest is Marketing. His 20 papers were published in reputed journals. |

Dr. M. Usha’s areas of interest and specialisations are Industrial Economics, Marketing, Taxation, Cost Accounting and CRM. |
| Under her guidance 3 scholars have been awarded M.Phil. and 6 scholars are pursuing Ph.D. She published 9 papers in reputed journals. She has organised 2 International Seminars. She has edited 3 books, and co-authored 1 book. She has organised 2 National Workshops, 3 Industrial Meets and 2 Training Programmes. She has applied for a UGC major project. She was the Students’ advisor at University College for Women, Koti, was the Coordinator, M.Com (IS), Osmania University and at present she is the Coordinator for the M.B.A course at Nizam College. Best Commerce Faculty award was conferred on her by IPA, 2005. She is the life member of APEA, ICA and IAA. |

Prof. S.Anjaiah joined the University on 3-12-1987. He got his Ph.D( Business Management) from Osmania University in April, 1996. |
| His 7 research papers were published in reputed journals. He was the Principal, Osmania University Post –Graduate College, Nalgonda during 2004-2006. Before he joined the University he worked in state Secretariat and also in All India Coordinated Rice Improvement Project, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. |

Prof Ramesh joined the university on 7.8.1989 and is professor since august 2006. His area of specialization is Organization Theory and Management. |
| His research areas are Women’s Self Help Group, Micro Enterprise, TRYSEM, JRDP, and Co-Operatives. He has 34 publications to his credit in various popular journals and 5 research projects sponsored by AP Government and one UGC Major Research Project on Sustainability of Micro Enterprises in AP. |

Dr.C .V .Ranjani joined the University in June 2007. She did her M.Com in 1995, Ph.D in 2006, and M.B.A in 2008 from Osmania University. |
She was awarded Gold Medal for securing highest aggregate in college for M.Com, she completed DCA (Diploma in Computer Applications) and a modular Certificate Course offered by PGRRCDE, OU – passed in First Class with Distinction, she did ICWAI (passed Group II, Inter)
She is a visiting faculty for MBA and M.Com departments for taking guest lectures.
She is an M.Phil guide with the Department of Commerce, Osmania University. She has 7 publications in various reputed journals. She presented five papers in different seminars at various levels. She also attended workshops, Orientation Programmes and Refresher Courses and Faculty Development Programmes.
She acted as a rapportuer in the National Seminar on Insurance Sector Reforms in India: Challenges and Opportunities, on 8th August, 2007. She attended many other seminars/workshops conducted by Indian Accounting Association, Department of Commerce and Department of Management, OU. She acted as a Judge for the 43rd A.D.Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition for College Students (2007-08), sponsored by Corporation Bank.
Dr.C.Ranjani has 7 years of teaching experience. She was the NSS Programme Officer at University College for Women, during her tenure she conducted many camps and activities.. |
